Today I got a ton of DM’s and Tweets questioning on how I’m building a list so fast. There are a # of techniques to grow a list quick.  This one is one of my favorites.  Follow like minded people.  And follow lots of them. Use the tool I recommended on day 5 to find people to follow.  Use it because it does a good job of somehow recommending like minded people.

Or if your trying to dominate a local market – use twitterholic.com and search for local members – follow them and follow their followers.

Follow as many as you can, click like crazy until Twitter put the handcuffs on you, then wait a few days and un-follow anyone who isn’t following you. Why Un-follow? Good question, chances are they don’t like you. I know it seems hard to believe – but just cause you followed them – does not guarantee they will reciprocate. The real reason is – at some point Twitter will put the brakes on you, until you dump the dead weight. At that point you will have more room for followers. Be patient and wait several days when doing this for best results.

When doing this, if you want to keep your list – make sure to be interesting, interact, respond personally and everything else that comes along with it.  Don’t be a dick and spam – you are wasting your time. Twitter will shut you down.

One site that I found today

http://twitterapps.pbwiki.com/ - needs no description, just go check it out – you’ll be glad you did.

Good night,

Sean

  • Sean,
Regardless of what field we're in and where we live, if we have a website, we want people to find it.... so any help on building targeted traffic is great. I'm so impressed by your willingness to share your information about how you grew your following. I haven't been able to replicate your results (yet) but I love learning new things about how the www works. Cheers, Jeannette
  • Andy Piper,

I am who I am - if you like me, follow me. If you dont - get out of here :)

You can take from my blog and twitter account whatever you want. Personally I am fascinated with marketing and can see Twitter being a good vehicle on a number of fronts. And on top of that -where else can you have this much fun.

I thought others who have not discovered twitter, or are just getting started might find value in the time and energy I give to this blog.

Thats all - thanks for coming by.
  • Noot54 - Thanks for the comment, and thanks for stopping by.
  • Sean, what's the value in following you? it seems to me that the only thing you're giving to the community here is this "experiment" - I'll also be interested to see when and whether you hit the following limits on Twitter.
  • I completely agree about following like-minded people. Soon I too will have to dump the dead wood. I follow people for a couple of days and if they don't follow back I remove them. Don't care if it's a 'celeb' or not - I'm only interested in those who are interested in me.
    Good Luck!
  • Leora - thanks for the heads up - I deleted that post. That's actually the 3rd time ive posted with the wrong link.

And please anyone reading this - if I make the dumb mistake again of misspelling my own link - please tweet me and let me know.

    Thanks,
    Sean
  • Sean, thanks for leaving the reply on Twitter. You might not get as many hits to your Twitter link because I think you left a 't' out of mytwitterexperiment. check the link.

    It is a fun experiment!
  • Leora,

That's a good question. Ive got several ideas and I'm not sure yet what exactly I'm going to do - if anything. For the time being, its been alot of fun just meeting & interacting with new people. Ive made some great contacts already.

I have to admit -Twitter has been wayyy more fun that i ever thought it would be.

I will let you know as I go - what I decide to do.

    Sean
  • So what are you going to do with all these followers once you get them? Or is that for another post?
